Two Great Books For Gardeners: Home Herbal & Grow Plants In Pots ...

Two years ago I finally got bitten by the gardening bug. I knew nothing about plants and had no idea what I was doing, but had so much fun playing in the garden with my son. Since then, my love for gardening has grown and, though we aren?t always successful, we still enjoy planting our tomatoes, strawberries and assorted plants and flowers each year in the hopes of watching them grow. I?ve found some helpful hints on the internet and was excited to finally review two books that pertained to my interest in gardening. If you enjoy planting veggies, herbs, and other potted plants, you?ll love these two books.

Book #1:

Home Herbal:The Ultimate Guide to Cooking, Brewing, and Blending Your Own Herbs (paperback, $22.95; eBook, $20.99) by Dorling Kindersley

Recommending herbs for both well-being and minor ailments, featuring an A-Z directory of 100 key herbs, and with information on how to grow, harvest, prepare, and use them, Home Herbal offers a wealth of practical advice on the medicinal, cleaning, and consumptive uses of herbs, with the emphasis on what anyone can achieve in their garden and kitchen.

My Thoughts

As an organic Mama, I?m a fan of herbal remedies and giving all-natural medicines, so this book was right up my alley! With some great ideas for how to successfully grow the herbs all the way to how to use them for dinner and to make medicines, Home Herbal is an amazing book for beginners who want to learn more about not only herbal gardening, but the many uses herbs provide.

Book #2

Grow Plants In Pots (paperback, $19.95; eBook, $17.99) by Dorling Kindersley

Whether you want to bring impact and beauty indoors or dress up your patio with flowers or productive plants, Grow Plants in Pots is packed with inspirational ideas that explore the full range of plants that can be grown in containers.

With gorgeous photography, information on growing fruits and vegetables in containers, and plants organized by growing conditions and key qualities for ease of reference, Grow Plants in Pots features exciting combinations and design ideas, showing plants in situ in the home and on patios and roof terraces.

My Thoughts

Last year I started some of my tomato plants out in pots and realized not only how much better they grew and thrived, but how much prettier and even ornamental they looked. Since then, I?ve loved finding pretty pots and decorating our porch and home with plants, too. Some fruits, veggies, and flowers are easier to grow than others and, with the help of Grow Plants In Pots, you can reference what needs to be done and what conditionals must be met for the plants to thrive, too.

With beautiful pictures included, the book is great for a coffee table and is interesting for anyone interested in decorating and gardening. Do you want to redecorate your home or change around a room? Adding potted plants can easily update the look of your home or patio. You?ll love this book!

This post was written for DK Publishing who provided the two complimentary copies in exchange for my honest review.
