Air Vents: Some modern hearing aids come with small air vents geared for those who might produce a lot of earwax, who hear certain frequencies well, or who do not want their own voice to resonate as much, often referred to as the ?barrel effect?.
Acoustic Feedback Prevention: Hearing aids should come with features that help eliminate acoustic feedback, or the high-pitched whistling that might occur. Some BTE hearing aids are better at preventing feedback when compared to ITE or ITC models. Newer ones have digital feedback reduction as a feature.
Special Features: The more features you have, the more expensive the hearing aid, but the more comfortable you might be. Advanced hearing aids might come with directional or multiple telecoil microphones that help with assisted listening devices, such as phones or speaker systems. Canal locks can be purchased, which help hold hearing aids in the ear while playing sports or eating.
Digital Programmable: Cutting-edge hearing aids are digital-analog or digital-programmable, which means certain features can be adjusted or modified over time. Some of these can even be adjusted by the wearer who can press small buttons on the unit or operate their hearing aids with a remote control. These will work great against compression, or the difficulty hearing aid wearers have when soft sounds are too soft and normal sounds too loud.
Multi Channel (Multi-band): Multi-band hearing aids?are programmed according to the user. While some people might need help hearing higher frequencies than lower, these units help balance the difference by boosting lower tones and channeling regular ones.
