Two people were killed Wednesday in two shootings, including one at a business in Downey, Calif., and authorities continue to search for the gunman.

Initial reports indicated three people had been killed. Downey police later confirmed two deaths.

Two people were hospitalized after the shootings at a business in the 8700 block of Cleta Street (map) and another at a residence in the 8500 block of Cleta Street, Downey Fire Department officials said.

The business address, identified as United States Fire Protection, appeared to be located across from a Coca-Cola bottling plant.

Details regarding the wounded victims' conditions and gunman were not immediately available. The two injured victims were transported to St. Francis and Long Beach Memorial medical centers.

The shooting was reported at 11:25 a.m. The gunman's vehicle was described as a black 2010 Chevrolet Camaro.

Dean Wright, who works next door, described the business as a family owned fire extinguisher business. He told NBC4 family members lived at the Cleta Street residence located just a few blocks from the business.

"I'm right next door, and I never even heard a shot," said Wright. "I looked and the police had surrounded the building.

"It's so sad."
